Minister of Culture inaugurates the Museum of Modern Art with the "Bikar's Cache" exhibition and witnesses the celebration of his 112th birthday
Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hano, Minister of Culture, inaugurated the Museum of Modern Art in the Egyptian Opera House Square, after completing its development and updating the museum display scenario. The opening came with a distinctive art exhibition entitled "Bikar's Cache", documenting the most prominent creations of the late Egyptian artist Hussein Bikar, in celebration of the 112th anniversary of his birth.
The opening witnessed the attendance of an elite group of cultural and artistic figures, including Dr. Walid Qanush, Head of the Fine Arts Sector, Engineer Hamdi Al-Satouhi, Head of the Cultural Development Fund Sector, and Dr. Lamia Zayed, Head of the Egyptian Opera House, in addition to a number of visual artists.
The exhibition included a variety of Bikar's artistic works, which embodied his various creative stages, especially his paintings that participated in the production of the documentary film "The Eighth Wonder", which documents the epic of saving the Abu Simbel temples.
Following the opening, the Minister of Culture witnessed a major celebration at the Small Theater of the Egyptian Opera House, in cooperation between the Fine Arts Sector and the Cultural Development Fund. The celebration reviewed the inspiring role played by Hussein Bikar in documenting the epic rescue of the Abu Simbel temples, in addition to highlighting his immortal creations that influenced modern Egyptian art. In his speech, Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hano stressed that the reopening of the Museum of Modern Art with the “Bikar’s Cache” exhibition represents a tribute to Egyptian creativity and its symbols, and said: “Today we celebrate an artist who made his works bridges between the past and the future. Bikar was not just a visual artist, but a poet of color, a philosopher of lines, and an engineer of conscience. His paintings were honest testimonies to the beauty of daily life, especially in Nubia, which he loved.” During the celebration, Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hanno, Minister of Culture, stressed that the reopening of the Museum of Modern Art today with the "Bikkar's Cache" exhibition is a tribute to the spirit of Egyptian creativity and an embodiment of our commitment to protecting cultural heritage. This event represents an open window for new generations to learn from the pioneers of art, who made their works bridges between the past and the future. He pointed out that the documentary film "The Eighth Wonder", which documented the epic reconstruction of the temples of Ramses II in Abu Simbel during their transfer in the sixties of the last century. In this work, Bikar transported us through his colors and lines to the heart of this historical moment, where he encapsulated in his paintings that enchanting relationship between man and his greatest achievements. We are thus in the presence of Hussein Bikar's legacy, celebrating the essence of art itself and the human spirit that he illuminated with his creativity.
