When Sports Meet Art: The "Museums Marathon" Tour Concludes in Cairo's Streets
The "Museums Marathon" tour, held under the slogan "Egypt: The Path of Civilization... Running Through History, Inspiring the Future," concluded on Saturday, June 6, 2026. The event was a fruitful collaboration between the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Youth and Sports. The day witnessed a large turnout and participation from citizens and families, along with a notable presence of young people from the Ministry of Youth and Sports who actively and enthusiastically participated in this field experience that linked sports with archaeological and cultural awareness.
The marathon route (walking) was hosted by the museums of the Fine Arts Sector, headed by Professor Dr. Mahmoud Hamed. It began at the Museum of Modern Egyptian Art in the Opera House Square in Zamalek, passed by the museum of sculptor Mahmoud Mokhtar, and continued along the Nile Corniche to its final destination at the Mohamed Mahmoud Khalil Museum and its grounds in Dokki. The tour included a captivating presentation showcasing the history of the Museum of Modern Art and the Mohamed Mahmoud Khalil Museum and its grounds, highlighting their enduring architectural and artistic significance. The event concluded with a festive atmosphere, featuring a delightful marionette show presented by the National Center for Children's Culture, which brought joy to children and their families, seamlessly blending knowledge, sports, and entertaining arts for children.
