Mai Heikal, an Egyptian pediatrician. She obtained a Master's degree in Pediatrics and a Diploma in Mental Health from Alexandria University. She has loved arts and cultural activities since her childhood. While studying at the Faculty of Medicine, she participated in student drawing exhibitions. She also joined the Library of Alexandria Classical Choir for 11 years, which participated in many of the Library of Alexandria’s annual concerts, presidential concerts, and opera performances.
She used to write poetry in the English language, and during her college period she won the Poetry Prize from MSA University in 6th of October City. She also won the first prize for English poetry in the International Word Painting Competition at the Alexandria Library in 2013. This was during her training period in the Children’s Prosecution Office at the University Children’s Hospital in Alexandria.
She also joined the Alexandria Concert page team on Facebook, which is a volunteer page that aims to advertise concerts and cultural activities in Alexandria Governorate and is followed by more than 4,000 people.
She moved to live in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and during her motherhood, she invested her time in studying fine arts at the Saudi Center for Fine Arts in Jeddah, accredited by the Ministry of Information in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and is now producing oil, charcoal, and pastel paintings for her friends and acquaintances... She also participated in several exhibitions in the city of Jeddah and virtual exhibitions at the time of home quarantine. ...She prefers to create paintings of a realistic, impressionistic, or cubist nature, and also loves depicting Egyptian culture in her paintings.
Mai aspires to study art therapy to combine her hobbies with her original work in the future.
