- I was greatly influenced at the beginning by my teacher "Ali Al-Raziza" .. then I developed my own style.
- "The door" with all its decoration .. a reference and a basic foundation for my work.
Uniqueness and special feature is what distinguishes the works of the plastic artist Abdul Mohsen Aba Hussein. He relies on the accuracy of transfer and documentation of decoration from its sources and transforming it into artistic paintings, and perhaps that was the reason behind some people believing that his works are repetitive, but reality proves otherwise, as he traveled a lot to a number of cities and villages in "Najd" and took hundreds of pictures of everything old in the field of building and decorating doors and houses, and visited a number of elderly people who were professional door engravers, including the late artist Ali Al-Naqeedan, and researched a lot with them about this decoration, until he reached his own distinctive style.
“Ushaiger” is the city where Abdul Mohsen Aba Hussein was born in 84 AH, and his artistic tendencies appeared there during the elementary stage, and he owes the credit for developing those tendencies to the art education teacher at the time, Mr. Abdul Rahman bin Muhammad Al-Malik, as he played a major role in his love of drawing, especially the clay houses that characterized that period, as the teacher was specialized as a professor in this field in gypsum engraving in councils and buildings in general. “Aba Hussein” was not satisfied with talent, so he polished it with scientific study, so he obtained a bachelor’s degree in art education from King Saud University. Then he worked on developing the study with work, so he participated in various exhibitions of King Saud University during his studies there, as well as exhibitions of the Culture and Arts Society, the General Presidency of Youth Welfare, in addition to the exhibition (The Kingdom Between Yesterday and Today) in a number of European countries and the United States of America, in addition to many local exhibitions. The beginning of "Aba Hussain's" artistic career was ordinary like other artists in this field, where the usual style is based on conveying reality in a way closer to photography, then that changed after his visit to his teacher "Ali Al-Rizaiza" as he liked the style he works with, so he followed it for some time, then he started from it to his own style based on documenting the decoration from its original sources and transforming it into artistic paintings. Then he made the "door" with all its decoration a direct reference and not an inspiration that accepts distortion, and for this reason he considered it a basis and starting point for his works with its original texts. He intended by that to make his paintings a documentation of reality, history, and researchers in this field. Then came the stage of dissemination, in the work of the plastic artist, and "Aba Hussain" attributes the credit for it to the support and encouragement of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, may God protect him, when he was Minister of Defense, then His Highness Prince Faisal bin Abdullah bin Muhammad, the former Minister of Education, and Professor Abdul Rahman Al-Juraisi, the former President of the Chamber of Commerce, and Engineer Majed Al-Shawi, in addition to a number of influential figures in his artistic career. The distinction of Aba Hussain's works has made them collectibles for many entities, most notably: King Salman bin Abdulaziz Palace, King Fahd International Airport, the Ministry of Defense, the Command and Staff College, the Institute of Administration, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Social Center, King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, the Strategic Storage Project, King Fahd Library, the Chamber of Commerce, the National Festival for Heritage and Culture (Janadriyah), the Saudi Artists Exhibition (Tunis 1418 AH), and the Dutch Bank (Van Gogh) Exhibition at the Kingdom Tower 1422 AH. He also participated in the restoration of the distinguished village in the city of Ushaiger, in addition to a number of other distinguished exhibitions and events. Aba Hussain also presented some of his works to former French President Jacques Chirac, Crown Prince of Belgium Prince Louis Philippe, former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, Prince Faisal bin Abdullah bin Mohammed, Prince Faisal bin Abdullah bin Turki, and Prince Abdulaziz bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz. Finally..
Perhaps the most distinctive feature of Abu Hussein’s works is his great interest in making his works full of life, and not just ordinary drawings hung on walls. This alone is what gives his works a special charm and a personality that sets them apart from other similar works of art.
