The visual artist "Noura Al-Andas" has possessed artistic talent since her early childhood, and she was keen to develop herself and her talent, until she became one of the distinguished artists who have proven success in the world of visual arts, especially since she has won the first place award in several diverse participations, while she aspires for her works to reach the world.
"Hi" met the visual artist "Noura Al-Andas" to learn from her about her journey in the world of visual arts, her most prominent participations in exhibitions, and her expectations about the future of female visual artists in Saudi Arabia.
Tell us about your journey in the world of visual arts.
My beginnings in drawing were since childhood, I loved art class and at that time I used to hear words of praise from those around me, so I worked on developing my talent through practice, reading and self-development, then I stayed away from drawing for a while because I was busy with university studies, but after graduation I devoted myself to art and participated in several exhibitions and thank God I proved myself until I won several first place awards, and I still give everything I have to art.
What are the most important awards you have received?
Thank God I won first place in the Abdullah Al-Abdullatif Competition, may God have mercy on him, in the field of plastic art, and I also won first place in the first exhibition of plastic arts under the auspices of youth in Al-Rass.
Did your family or someone close to you play a role in your journey as an artist?
Certainly there is a role from those close to me and artists in supporting my artistic journey to enter the plastic arts arena, but the biggest role through which I began my artistic journey is trying to search for myself and develop it through my will and love for art.
What is it that moves the artist's sense inside you to create through the brush?
Everything that excites my feelings excites my brushes, as the artist naturally goes through several factors in his artistic life that help him to create, such as passion, imagination, feeling, joy and sadness.
Does this mean that the artist's problems and circumstances have the greatest impact on the formation of his painting?
The painting is the artist's mirror, as it reflects an image of his state, and it is the essence of ideas, feelings and emotions. When the artist paints a painting, he puts his soul and feelings in it, and the true artist is the one who can convey the idea of the painting to you inside your soul.
Do you follow a specific school of art?
It is known that realistic art is the basis for all arts, as it was my start, and after that I turned to impressionism and abstraction, and the truth is that I do not limit myself to a specific school, but rather I follow my color and idea regardless of the school.
Tell us about your most important participations in exhibitions inside and outside the Kingdom.
Praise be to God, I participated in several exhibitions inside and outside the Kingdom, the most prominent of which are:
- Participation in the Fine Arts Exhibition in Doha held at the Kingdom's Embassy.
- Participation in the Ishraqat Exhibition held in Dubai and Sharjah.
- Participation in the Visual Arts Exhibition in Janadriyah.
- Participation in the Painting and Poem Exhibition in Souk Okaz.
- Participation in the My Thought Sublimes My Country Exhibition headed by Her Highness Princess Abeer Al-Mandil.
What are your expectations about the future of Saudi female visual artists?
Saudi women are capable of highlighting their art, and recently they have succeeded in proving their presence and exhibitions bear witness to that, especially since we have recently witnessed great developments and a keen interest in art and artists, and we say with optimism about the future, God willing.
What are your future ambitions?
Every artist has an ambition that he seeks to achieve. My dream is to raise art to its highest levels. I also have a plan to hold a personal exhibition soon, God willing. Because it is known that art and culture are the face and identity of the country, I look forward to my works reaching the world.
A final word..
Art is an aesthetic that nourishes the soul, and every artist, male and female, must hone their talent and not stop at a certain limit, as creativity has no limits.
