Tarfa Bint Fahad
Tarfa Fahad Al Saud is a multidisciplinary artist and cultural creative consultant based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Her artistic journey began with a great passion for creativity, which led to her obtaining a degree in Visual Arts from the Arts and Skills Institute Boxhill in 2011. This foundation expanded her understanding of psychology and the unique power of art to effect change, leading her to explore art therapy the following year. By 2017, she had deepened her understanding of human dynamics by obtaining a certification as a certified life coach. This has increased her insights into personal growth and human behavior. In her artistic practice, Tarfa blends her research and passion, capturing fleeting moments and the subtle interplay of time and space, with a focus on memory and its resonance, and a special attention to stories. Other than Arabism, her works include series such as “Rain” and “Earth and Man” that embody the beauty of fleeting moments through the natural imprints of rain, rocks and heritage elements in the Kingdom: Saudi Arabia for the art method is a platform for experimentation and exploration, allowing her to use a variety of media, including mixed media on canvas. Her video installations and photography carefully address themes of movement, overlay, spatial relationships, and contrast, reflecting her distinctive artistic vision. Her work has been exhibited locally and internationally, including the Saudi Pavilion at Expo 2021 Dubai, the “Sojoort” exhibition at Misk Art Week 2019, the Abu Dhabi Art Fair 2019, the Naphtha Exhibition in Jeddah 2019, the Arab World Institute in Paris 2018, the “I Love Your Art” exhibition in Riyadh 2015-2016, and the “Alia Visual” exhibition during Jeddah Art Week 2013, in addition to receiving several awards in various art competitions.
In 2021, Tarfa held the position of Director of Curation and Interpretation of Cultural Heritage at the Diriyah Gate Development Authority, and contributed as a creative and cultural consultant to projects such as Noor Riyadh 2021 and the film “Born a King 2017”. Prior to that, she took on a curatorial role at Misk Art Institute in 2018, which strengthened her position In the Saudi cultural scene.
