Abdullah Hammas is a Saudi plastic artist, born in 1373 AH (1952 AD) in Abha, southern Saudi Arabia. An international Saudi plastic artist, he is considered one of the most famous artists in Saudi Arabia and the Arab world, and a name that cannot be ignored in the march of Saudi plastic art, as he is one of the symbols and pioneers of beginnings. In his works, he relied on the symbolic abstract school, and was also influenced by his southern environment in his works, as his special and distinctive character appears in his works based on the picturesque colors of nature and the simple way of life.
Foundation
He was born in the city of Abha, in the south of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and then moved to the city of Tabuk with his father, who was working in the military. His passion and artistic sense appeared at an early age, and he began drawing from the fourth grade of primary school, and was encouraged at that time by a Jordanian art teacher. It was the first painting he painted in oil colors when he was in the first intermediate grade. The painting reflected the military environment and was dominated by the brown color. It was shown at the military base in Tabuk.

He graduated from the Institute of Art Education in Riyadh in 1973 AD (1392 AH).
Biography and artistic activity
Abdullah Hamas moved to study at the Institute of Art Education in Riyadh, and after his graduation he worked as a teacher of art education in both Abha and Jeddah for 37 years. He resided there and held many positions, including his work as head of plastic arts at the Culture and Arts Association, chairman of the exhibitions committee, secretary-general of the exhibitions committee, and secretary-general of the plastic artists’ house. He also held a number of plastic arts courses.
He held the first personal exhibition in Riyadh in 1394 AH, and his artistic career and personal exhibitions began and continued thereafter, until the number of personal exhibitions reached 37 in different cities and countries such as Rabat, Dubai, Paris, London, and Cairo.
His thirty-third personal exhibition was held in Jeddah, November 9, 2014, and his thirty-seventh personal exhibition was held in the Naila Art Gallery in Riyadh, and the exhibition included 50 plastic artworks.
He has many participations in exhibitions around the world, including: America, Kuwait, Canada, Germany, France, Korea, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and he has holdings in (Belgium, Jordan, Cannes, Lebanon, Madrid, and New York).
He won many and varied awards from different parties.

He was influenced by the mountainous nature of the Asir region, as we see his works related to Arab architectural features and popular motifs. And his works on the remarkable diversity and innovation in different colors and tools and their consistency.
In his paintings, he expresses the people, the city, the fashion, and the simple life of the people of the villages and the countryside. He brings back our memory to the popular buildings and aspects of life in his city, Abha, with its tall trees and mountains, and the richness of its colors.
