Ahmed Mater is a Saudi plastic artist and physician, born in 1979 in the city of Tabuk. He is a painter and photographer who tries in his works to narrate the major transformations in the Arabian Peninsula, in addition to creating a discussion about Islamic history and culture from artistic and aesthetic angles. He is the first CEO of the Misk Art Institute in 2017.

He studied medicine at King Khalid University in Abha before joining the Al-Moftaha Art Village and obtaining his own studio there and starting his path with art from there. his childhood
He was born in Tabuk, a city of a military character, located in northwest Saudi Arabia on the borders of Jordan. He is the eldest son of Mater Al-Ziyad Asiri, a sergeant in the Saudi army, and Fatima Hassan Asiri, the traditional painter of the Asiri houses. Ahmed's father returned to his hometown, Asir region, in 1994, to live in the city of Abha, and there he completed secondary school.

He obtained his bachelor's degree from King Khalid University in 2006.
The beginning of his artistic career
After joining King Khalid University in Abha to study medicine, Ahmed Mater joined Al-Moftaha Art Village in 1999, which is part of the King Fahd Cultural Center under the patronage of Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, and he obtained his own studio there.

The year 2016 was chosen to paint the painting "The Silk Road" to be gifted by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud to the Chinese president, to embody the depth of the Kingdom's relationship with China.
He won the “Cultural Creativity” award from the Takreem initiative in Kuwait in 2018.
