Ahmed Felemban is a Saudi plastic artist, born in Makkah Al-Mukarramah in 1951 AD. He is considered one of the most prominent pioneers of the plastic art movement in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and one of those who contributed to enriching the Saudi plastic scene. He has published many books on plastic art, most notably the book (Saudi Plastic Artists), and the book (Art in Half a Century: Lights on the Flares of Saudi Plastic Art).

The beginnings of art
Filmban says about his artistic beginnings: “I practiced calligraphy after learning it at the hands of the great calligraphers in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, and during my studies in the elementary, middle and secondary stages I practiced drawing and participated in all of its school activities and stood out in it, and through it fate led me to scholarship to Italy after high school in 1387 AH, and the turning point was The greatest in my life, artistically and socially, where I lived and experienced art in the country of art and beauty, so Rome was my study station and it was a large museum and a wide school in which every lover, interested and amateur of art learns, and so my vision is satiated, and I have changed many concepts, in addition to sciences, cultures and experiences Teachers at the Academy of Rome, from which I graduated in 1971 AD with excellent grades and honors, and I received the Minerva Award for the best student in the Academy for the academic year 1970-1971 AD, where I was apprenticed by senior Italian artists such as Renato Guttuso, Franco Gentilini (in painting), Bianchi and Cherokee (in art recessed excavation).
Galleries and paintings
Exhibition (Retracing Pains). The exhibition included twenty paintings in which the artist embodied his suffering with illness. The exhibition was held in the “Visions of Art” hall in the historic center of Jeddah in 2016.
Exhibition (Victims of the Wreckage), which included 40 paintings that were displayed in the Public Library in Rome in 2005. The paintings embodied the suffering of thousands of children under deprivation, hunger, disease, torture and exploitation.
Filmban has held more than 14 personal exhibitions in Jeddah, Riyadh, Italy and Austria, and has participated in more than 93 joint exhibitions, biennials, festivals, artistic events and cultural weeks inside and outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since 1967.
His works are acquired by many entities, including: the Saudi Embassy in Rome, the National Museum of Printmaking in Rome, the Casale Maggiore Municipal Museum in Italy, the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Museum of Printmaking in Rome, the Park Gallery in London, and the newspaper. (The Saudi Plastic Artists) was published by the Saudi Arabian Society for Culture and Arts. The book deals with the march of plastic art in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the most important transformations that have accompanied this art since its inception.
(Memory on the Roof) was published by Azhar Information Technology Company in 2013. The book included a biography, reflections and thoughts on plastic arts, and a glimpse of Saudi and Italian plastic art.

(Art in Half a Century: Lights on the Flares of Saudi Fine Art) was published by the University of Business and Technology in Jeddah in 2016 AD. The book included illumination on the Saudi aesthetic experience and creative adventure, and a brief presentation on contemporary Saudi plastic art.
(What?..and why? The secrets of color and the intuition of light) was published in 2016 AD, and documents between its covers about his experiences and plastic works that he produced between the years 1970-2015 AD.
(Inexhaustible Creativity) [together with Hisham Punjabi]. It was issued by the Jeddah Academy of Arts and sponsored by the University of Business and Technology in Jeddah in 2019.
Awards and honors
Received the Italian Order of Merit in 2007.
He holds the “Maestro in Art” shield from the International Association for Italian Arts and Culture.
First prize at the 30th International Biennale of the Sea in Rome in 2005.
He won the Minerva Prize in Rome for the best student in the drawing department for the academic year 1971.
The President of the Italian Republic awarded him the Order of the State and the title of “Knight” in 2007.
The Ministry of Culture and Information honored him in recognition of his career in plastic art in 2010.
