It is said that plastic art is a renewed spirit that adds divine elegance to the nature of our lives as human beings. Based on this and based on the philosophy of the universe that this art gives us to realize the metaphysics of our formation, we devoted this meeting with a plastic artist from Baniyas al-Sahel.
The young man, Salem Ibrahim Salman, born in Baniyas in 1988, participated in many exhibitions, such as the Artists Exhibition to Support Autistic Children at the Assad House for Culture and Arts in Latakia, the Conference Palace Exhibition in Damascus, the Adonis Exhibition for Young Artists in Orouba Park, and the Candelabra Exhibition at the Abbey Road Café in Latakia. He also participated At the Jableh Festival, live it without 2014.
Since elementary school, my talent was something innate, then encouragement from my family and my surroundings, such as school, began, and from the age of 12 I started producing landscapes and portraits. In high school, when I looked at the works of Renaissance artists, I realized that art requires practice and focus, and a person must be convinced that he is not superior, but strives To excel, and after that I started participating in many exhibitions with the beginning of my university studies.
The artists of the beginning of the twentieth century had a great impact on my artistic experience, so I took lines and curves, then worked on graphics and using inks on paper, but most of my art and paintings were inspired by the modern environment, so I took what I like from my daily life to reshape it in my own style, so I was inspired by street cats, landscape The city and the darkness of the night, and the fear inside the people as well, may be somewhat gloomy and devoid of optimism, but it is somewhat realistic.
There was great suffering in obtaining both materials and training, and material ability plays a big role. Sometimes I had to work on primitive materials such as cartons, which were met with a kind of criticism, but we do not want to be pessimistic.
In general, the artist's relationship with society is a fluctuating relationship, as I find a lot of encouragement, but the lack of visual culture in society constitutes a barrier between society and the artist.
As a result of the developments of life in society, there is no longer a place for human artistic production when there is blood.
Ghosts and monsters permeate my works, as they stem from the crisis, and this savage side of people who fights man also appears in my paintings.
God willing, we will overcome this crisis, as the Syrian man is a mighty man, and the evidence for that is the wonderful materials of the Syrian plastic artists and musicians who dazzled the outside world.
Today, the Ministry of Culture provides facilities in certain aspects and carries out many activities. Nevertheless, we hope that there will be greater care and more activation of cultural centers, as they are equipped to support artists. I also wish continuity for the Arab Cultural Center in Baniyas in its various activities.
