Dr. Afaf Al-Ra'i

I was born and raised in Baghdad, Iraq.

Currently residing in Sidon, Lebanon.

I am a visual artist who discovered my passion for drawing and colors later in life.

I discovered my love for colors by chance after cleaning up paints my son had used. I saw how different shades of color could blend together to create wonderful new colors. I felt like Alice entering Wonderland for the first time, amazed by the beauty surrounding her.

I currently work with various media, such as watercolors, acrylics, ink, and colored pencils, usually used on canvas or pure cotton paper.

One of my greatest passions in art is experimenting with new materials and exploring how to use them to create my own paintings, such as using 24-karat gold, fire, or even food!

Academic Achievements: I graduated from the University of Baghdad with a PhD in Image Processing.

I earned a diploma in Painting Techniques from the Lebanese American University in Beirut.

I have participated in numerous local and international art festivals, most recently in the Global Canvas Festival in Dubai.
