Visual artist and human rights activist in women’s affairs, Sarah Al-Shehri, born in 1985 AD, graduated from the College of Art Education, and the initiator of the idea of the “Creative Saudi Women” initiative to document the achievements of Saudi women inside and outside the country, about which she said: “When I saw the achievements and creativity of the daughters of my country in various fields, I thought... I document this Saudi women’s achievement; Let the whole world bet on the flags of success. Saudi women have an important role in pushing the wheel of development for this country, and we must write the history that befits them and their privacy with gold water. So I decided to make a box in which to place these jewelry. To become a treasure for future generations, and a motivation for success for all who have experienced the bitterness of frustration.
I created special accounts for the “Innovative Saudi Women” initiative on the social networking sites “Twitter,” “Instagram,” and “YouTube,” and I am seriously thinking about launching a private broadcast channel that reflects the civilized image of the largest possible segment of society.”
This initiative, led by Sarah and with the participation of her volunteer team, including public relations, translators, lawyers, and designers, adopted many issues related to women’s rights, and with the participation of many human rights activists, such as the “Protect her from your tongue” campaign, which was launched to educate society about the danger of electronic insult and defamation, and to activate the punishment of Sharia law for every defamer. Knowing the right of the defamed person to complain and hold those who defamed him accountable, supporting and protecting scholarship students and Saudi women from electronic defamation, and providing a helping hand to them. The areas of the initiative expanded and it began to sponsor and organize some awareness and volunteer events and activities, such as the party organized by Sarah with the Saudi innovator and volunteer Dr. Mona Abdel Rahman, for the benefit of... Children of Cancer, under the slogan “How we rejoice.” The initiative was not limited only to listing and monitoring these innovations and achievements, but rather it became a success partner and a strong moral supporter of the creative Saudi women’s energies. We should not forget that Sarah Al-Shehri, as a personality, has become a reference for everyone looking for distinguished Saudi women, as she described them as jewelry. She is the one who will own the box to collect it.
The Saudi writer and writer, Dr. Zainab Ibrahim Al-Khudairi, said in an article in Al-Watan newspaper about Sarah and her initiative: “What is distinctive about this initiative is that it establishes the spread of a culture of cooperation, love, and recognition of women’s achievements between themselves and women of their gender, which breaks many of the sayings and ideas that we have become acquainted with and have established in our culture.” Locally, women do not help or acknowledge others, and this culture is established and imposed on us, perhaps to serve the interests of others and suit their whims.
We, daughters of Eve, need each other very much; Because we understand the details of our feelings, our suffering, our responsibilities and our dual roles, we love each other without words, and the success of any woman is the success of all women, and we are with Sarah and her initiative, which may establish a culture of recognition and love. Thank you, Sarah.”
